I was sorry to leave you all to yourselves, but happy to hear that you missed my contributions to the blog since it means you actually read them.
Well, I'm back and have a bit of a problem, so perhaps you can help me. I know I should do something for my body - fitness and all that, and I have started several times. I went swimming for a while and then stopped. I bought a fitness pass for a fitness studio for a lot of money, thinking this would motiate me not to throw my money out the window, but to no avail. I started, but not for long.
I am usually quite busy, but I know that I would profit from it. And, of course, I'm not getting any younger.
How can I discipline myself to stick with a sport? I know I really need it. I appreciate all the tips I can get!
(by the way, this is a picture of Abbey - actually her daughter, who has taken over mother's job). If you click on the picture, you'll see an example.
This is your class blog to share and learn with each other

Dear Illya
I'm very familiar with your problem and I made the same experience as you with a fitness pass. A good thing is to practise sport with a friend. I used to go jogging with a neighbour. So I knew, every Thursday morning is jogging time. If you don't feel fit enough for jogging, you could start joining a walking group, I remember having read about one in Emmenbrücke on the NLZ's agenda page. If you look at the page every day, you'll find the day they meet. Another important thing for women at our age would be a little bit of power training. Perhaps you could find someone else to accompany you in a studio.
Or if you find some power exercises on the Internet, you could have a healthy break at correcting our writings.
What about your husband? Does he like sport?
At present, I practise jogging with my husband once a week and it's a good thing because we can cultivate our relationship at the same time.
That's all what I can say for the moment. Have a good sporting time.
Brigitta
Dear Illya
About two years ago I had the same problem as you. I really agree with the advices Brigitta wrote. I started doing sport regularly with my sister. However, my sister soon let me jogging alone. Then I joined the "Fit- und Walktreff" in Rain. There is also a "Fit- und Walktreff" in Emmenbrücke. The one in Emmenbrücke is only during summertime. Therefore I chosed the one in Rain. They do jogging the whole year even if it snows. It helped me to have a fixed time to do sport. And after some time it belongs to your everyday life.
Sporting wishes Fränzi.
Dear classmates
My time-related problem is about household. In my opinion, this is a real time-eater!!! It always takes me too much time to deal with all the household chores. Do you have any helpful advices how to get everything done without loosing too much time? For me it is sometimes quite difficult to keep job, household and freetime on balance even though I don't have children yet! Please, experienced mothers, give me some good advices!
See you soon, I wish you a great weekend in the snow,
Fränzi
Hi Illya
have you ever thought about what your favorite sport activity is?
Is it running, skiing, cycling or maybe playing tennis?
Or what about starting the day with some exercises every morning before breakfast?
I agree with Brigitte and Fränzi, it is easier to find the motivation when you are a member of a group or do sport activities with a friend.
Do something - it's certainly worth a try.
Best wishes

Dear Illya,
There are not many advises to add. The best you've already got from Fränzi, Brigitta and Agi.
If you start running, cycling, gym,...do it at least twice, better three times a week. You will soon make progress and you are not everytime so exhausted that it is difficult to motivate yourself to do it again.
And don't forget, what ever you do, HAVE FUN!
When I run I am always listening my favorite songs. Despite of being a good pacemaker, music let me remember of my friends, holidays, special moments and I forget the laps left.
And last but not least, START NOW!There is no better moment!
Have a good day!...Gisela
Thank you everyone for your useful advice! I found a kind of fitness center that promises good results in only 3 times 30 minutes a week. And only for women!
I'm going to try that now and see how I feel. Ask me after the Christmas break :-)
Hi Fränzi
I can understand your problem. I hate it, but always have a lot to do too. It also eats my time, but I have found 3 things useful.
1- get a cleaning lady
2- put less emphasis on a tidy home. If tidying gets to you, then jsut decide what really needs to be done and leave the rest for another time when you feel motivated to work. this actually leads to number
3- invite guests regularly! I find this a great motivation for cleaning and tidying in preparation for guests. This is especially so if they are my in-laws!
